Akio "Peccha" Maruyama 晃生"ぺっちゃ"丸山 (Hamaotsu, 1984, Japan) made his first paper doll, "washi ningyou", thanks to his teacher, his mother, who from a very young age immersed him in this traditional Japanese art, which is rarely known in Western countries. Since 2007 he has dedicated himself professionally to the study, creation and teaching of the different types of paper dolls present in Japanese tradition: geisha, maiko (geisha apprentice), different characters from Kabuki theatre, samurai, hanayome (Japanese bride), oirán (Japanese courtesan), among many other variations.
