Since 2012, we have been working intensively on a common passion: the arts of the brush. We refer more specifically to traditional Japanese calligraphy and painting, but always from a modern approach, from an honest perspective.

Through practice we have learned and continue to learn an infinite number of tools that allow us to create images that move us from the smooth surface of the paper, while at the same time allowing us to enjoy the process of creating them.

It is known that study by means of copying is one of the procedures for learning and perfecting traditional techniques in the Far East. Similarly, in this exhibition we present a selection of works produced in the course we teach on the work "Circle, Triangle and Square" (also known as "The Universe") by the monk, poet, painter and calligrapher Sengai Gibon 仙厓義梵 (18th century).

With the same criteria, we have included on this occasion a set of works produced from the study and "irreverent" copying of other classical masters, which have been very useful to us in awakening our creative potential.

But at the same time we have shared more than thirty-four varieties of tea, we have come across our own shadows when that which “we SO wanted” did not come out, we have been infinitely happy when that expected gesture has arisen and above all we have remained there, in that space that –when inhabited–, everything is possible.

In this process we have come closer to the madness of Xu Wei, the poetry of the stains in Gao Xingjian, as well as the radical gesture of Wang Dongling's calligraphy, to name just a few of the references from our afternoons with ink.

We believe that this exhibition has been a good opportunity to get closer to what each one has to offer us, to what each one has materialized from the perseverance that implies the unknown path of creation. Our deepest reverence and admiration to those people who have remained there.
