Carolina Esteban is a Washi Heart (Madrid, 1983, Spain). She came into contact with the Japanese world through origami when she was a child, a practice that she has continued in her life until today. The year 2013 would be a decisive date since two relevant events coincided for the teaching activity that she is currently engaged in. On the one hand, she discovered Japanese calligraphy through Shodo Creativo, with whom she continues to study today; and also, she heard for the first time about mizuhiki knots (rolled washi paper threads). Both disciplines have become her great passion. During the last few years she has consolidated her knowledge about this practice thanks to her trips to Japan, a place where this traditional practice is on the verge of extinction and therefore her contribution to Shodo Creativo and the dissemination of mizuhiki in Madrid in particular and in Spain in general, is invaluable. One of her current lines of research is the creation of origami pieces combined with mizuhiki knots and Japanese paper decoration techniques.
